In the mid – 1860s, Henry Nestlé, a qualified pharmacist, began studying different combinations of cow’s milk, wheat flour and sugar, trying to expand the choice of diet for children by mothers who they could not breastfeed.
The value of the new product was soon recognized and Farine Lactée Nestlé was marketed within a few years in most European markets.
Even then, back in 1869, in his book on Infant Nutrition, Henri Nestlé points out that breast milk is the best food for any infant and that every woman who can do this should breastfeed her baby, and his new product was considered a replacement only when necessary.
With food products based on scientific achievements, Nestlé Nutrition helps to improve the quality of life, promote health and take care of the special needs of consumers in all aspects of life. In this way, Nestlé Nutrition builds a unique organization based on the latest advances in nutrition science, introduces innovations and connects the fields of pharmacy and the food industry.
